The surf spots for windsurfers

The open coastal areas provide professionals with the desired action and thrill for surfing at the Baltic Sea: At the Baltic Sea, Bodden and lakes the waves come with the wind and it comes from all directions. When it drives powerfully over the water crests, low-salt waters and shallow depths help waves build quickly and become much steeper than on the North Sea.Some areas are especially suitable for windsurfers because of their special conditions: Lubmin near Greifswald, for example, is a surf spot with medium waves and the best wind.Nearby Ludwigsburg with shallow water is ideal for freeride, freestyle and speed with fresh wind from southeast and southwest. For those who prefer windsurfing on Rügen, the Baltic windsurfing spot Prora is recommended; for the brave also during spring and autumn storms with strong sideways winds (sideshore). There are similarly large waves at Neu Mukran on Rügen and Kägsdorf near Rerik.
Zingst holds the full surf package and perfect west-northwest sideshore to boot for surfing on the Baltic Sea. The city beach of Rostock-Warnemünde is a classic with big waves especially with west wind.
It doesn't always have to be the Baltic Sea: Rerik offers ocean waves on the one hand and an entrance to the smooth Salzhaff only 100 meters from the Baltic Sea. Likewise, the Saaler Bodden offers several entrances for a perfect shallow water spot.
The low-salt Jasmund Bodden near Polchow or the Schwerin freshwater lake plateau with their tree cover provide gusty conditions and fewer surfing visitors.

Surf schools & surf camps - learning windsurfing so easy

Beginners start, for example, with a practice-oriented beginner's course. Here they learn the most important movements, basic knowledge about the equipment, the rules, but also the dangers of improper or careless behavior when windsurfing.

Since almost all surf schools in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern are affiliated with the international instructor association Deutscher Wassersport Schulen, you can rely on a balanced ratio of one instructor to a maximum of eight students. Clear advantage: in small groups you learn more intensively and individually. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced surfer, a big plus in the surf schools at the Baltic Sea and the Bodden is the use of the latest equipment. No matter if weekend courses or whole week seminars - everything will be tailored to your personal needs.

Windsurf equipment rental

The many rental shops, mostly at the bigger spots, know the needs of the surfers and provide them with the basic equipment. But they are also happy to show and rent sophisticated accessories for that special higher-faster-further adventure. A big plus: In many areas, the rental shops are located directly at the wave spot.
