1. Schlösserherbst in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

Every year, castles, manors and manor houses invite visitors to the Schlösserherbst in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. When the autumn sun shines a golden light on the venerable gardens, those interested in culture can enjoy exciting castle and park tours, top-class concerts, fascinating exhibitions, and a wide range of events;concerts, fascinating exhibitions, romantic readings and numerous culinary events from the Mecklenburg Lake District to the Western Pomerania mainland and the Mecklenburg Baltic coast.

2. puppet show with Maid Husch and dachshund Waldi von Hohenhund

Listen to the tales of dachshund Waldi von Hohenhund on a tour of Granitz Hunting Lodge on Rügen, learn stories about Count Bothmer and his castle from Zausel the mouse from Klütz at Bothmer Castle;about Count Bothmer, his castle and the power of knowledge and experience with the puppet theater „Ernst Heiter“ on a guided tour through Hohenzieritz Castle how the maiden Husch became the Prussian Queen Luise. 

Puppet and palace lovers of all ages can experience the MV State Palaces, Gardens and Art Collections with artistic puppet shows and puppet theater with lots of humor, a twinkle in the eye and music.

3. through the night with art and culture

When the nights get longer, selected palaces, museums, galleries and other cultural institutions invite you to the art and culture nights.

At the Ludwigsluster KUKUNA, idyllic courtyards and historic houses become a stage. Ludwigslust Palace invites you to a guided tour of the palace clock to mark the occasion.

The town of Klütz opens its gates and doors in October for the Klützer KulTOURnacht when night falls. Whether music, painting, literature, fascinating light installations, relaxation, goldsmithing or puppet shows.

„Pay nothing once – experience a lot“ applies to the Schweriner Lichtbummel. Light experiences and atmospheric lighting invite you to discover the city.

4th Day of the Open Monument

free of charge to all castles and monuments

Open Monument Day is always held on the 2nd Sunday in September.

On this day, many of the otherwise inaccessible monuments are open and can be visited as part of guided tours and exhibitions. Be sure to make a note of this date!

Ludwigslust Castle

The magnificent Ludwigslust Palace, situated in a spacious park with avenues, cascades, canals and water jumps, is the center of the late Baroque town complex. In the castle's museum, the restored rooms shine in courtly splendor and transport visitors back in time. In the hunting hall of the castle there is a café with a spacious terrace overlooking the castle park.

Bothmer Castle & Castle Park

Bothmer Castle is one of the largest baroque palaces in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It was built in 1726-1732 by the architect Johann Friedrich Künnecke. The builder was Imperial Count Hans Caspar von Bothmer.

Güstrow Castle

On the edge of the old town of Güstrow, one of the most important Renaissance castles in Northern Europe surprises with its southern charm. Magnificent stucco ceilings from the time of construction have been preserved. Extensive renovation work is currently taking place in the castle. Due to this, the castle museum is not open to the public.

Hohenzieritz Castle

Hohenzieritz went down in history as the place where the legendary Queen Luise of Prussia died. The castle was once the summer residence of the Dukes of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. Today, a memorial in the castle provides information about Queen Luise. One of the earliest landscape gardens in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern extends behind the palace. It was created from 1771 by the English garden architect Thomson.

Mirow Castle

The present palace was built under Adolf Friedrich III according to plans by Christoph Julius Löwe between 1749 and 1752 as a widow's residence for his stepmother Elisabeth-Albertine.

Wiligrad Castle

The former ducal residence palace with the surrounding palace park and the historic estate ensemble is one of the most beautiful places on Lake Schwerin. The art exhibition in the castle is particularly worth seeing. With its location on a steep bank directly on the lake, it is considered an insider's tip for excursions, especially in autumn and in spring during the rhododron bloom. The old nursery houses a farm store and a popular farm café.

5. contemplative Christmas time with castle romance

The Ludwigslust Castle Christmas in a baroque ambience is something very special. Let yourself be enchanted every year on the third weekend of Advent. One of the highlights is the castle in a blaze of light, and you can also look forward to arts and crafts, all kinds of homemade products and culinary delights from the region.

At the Christmas market in the castle wall in Plau am See, you can marvel at great craftsmanship, music, lots of hands-on activities for young and old and theater of a very special kind.

The Festival Winter of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival unfolds with its Advent and Christmas concerts for musical enjoyment in the historic castle ambience.
