Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is a federal state with many pristine natural and historically shaped cultural landscapes. Embedded in them are top-class and attractive golf courses. Regardless of whether you want to play golf on a 9-hole or 18-hole championship course, putting in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is sure to be a special experience. And those who have spent the day in the fresh air and with plenty of exercise can look forward to regional delicacies and well-deserved rest and relaxation in the associated modern hotels. Golf and partner hotels are available for every requirement.

In harmony with nature

Experts know: Golf playing is much more than a sport. It stands for mindfulness, focus, relaxation and being together with family and friends. Many golf courses are also actively committed to sustainability and nature conservation, because intact flora and fauna are the capital of the courses between the Baltic Sea and the lake district. Wooded areas, hedges, water features, orchards and flower meadows line the fairways and are habitats for numerous animal and plant species. On the Strelasund golf course between the Hanseatic cities of Stralsund and Greifswald, for example, breeding areas, biotopes, wildflower meadows and orchards have been created.

Certified sustainable

The Ostsee Golf Resort Wittenbeck is one of the places that proves how sustainably golf courses are built in this country. It has recently been awarded the »Golf & Natur« gold certificate from the German Golf Association's environmental program. The »Golf & Nature« program particularly emphasizes the idea of sustainability. The creation of habitats for flora and fauna as well as active landscape protection are also part of the certification. Sheep of the special Skudden breed and chickens of the German Sparrowhawk breed have found a habitat on the golf course in Wittenbeck. Both species are threatened with extinction.

At GOLF Fleesensee, for example, only around 40 percent of the 350 hectares are used as a golf course. In the larger part, flora and fauna have retained their natural home. Flower and orchard meadows provide food and a habitat for insects and wild birds. And by the way, they even produce their own honey and delicious apple juice.
