On a discovery tour with the family: the island of Rügen is increasingly becoming the destination of young and old hikers' dreams. A well-developed network of paths invites you to enjoy a variety of tours through the Jasmund National Park. Each route is an experience in itself and is also suitable for families with children.

The Hochuferweg in the Jasmund National Park on Rügen is ideal for families and offers numerous adventures for children along the way. One highlight is the National Park Center KÖNIGSSTUHL with its interactive stations, where children can learn more about the formation of the chalk cliffs and the animals of the national park in a fun way. An exciting rally through the park with riddles and small prizes provides additional fun.

On the way from Lohme to Sassnitz, wide, easily accessible paths invite you to go on discovery tours and fossils and hornbills can be found on the beach below the chalk cliffs. Breathtaking views of the sea and forest accompany the hike, which is also suitable for baby carriages.

At Ostseebad Boltenhagen, the beach becomes an adventure playground: children can collect shells, sticks and even amber and use them to create works of art. The magical torch lighting bids farewell to summer in an atmospheric setting.

There is also plenty to experience at Ostseebad Trassenheide: The child-friendly beach with shallow water invites you to kite and spook festivals and creative workshops such as fire painting and geocaching offer variety. On the 13,000 square meter Pirate Island, many more adventures await young and old alike. 

 

Stone-age storytellers: the 1,900-kilometre coastline of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is never empty, even on cool days. Hunters and collectors poke around in the mudflats and in the history of the earth - in search of fossils and amber.

At Kranorama Groß Mohrdorf, families can learn all about the fascinating cranes, their food, roosting places and the loud trumpeting of the birds. Autumn is also the perfect time to visit the Bernstein Riding Experience, where programs for all ages and riding levels, visits to the stables, craft activities and an indoor play world await children.

At Wildpark-MV in Güstrow, visitors big and small can enter several enclosures and experience native animals up close. Playgrounds, a high ropes course and the „sparkle in the dark“ with festive lighting create additional magical moments. The evening wolf walks are also exciting when the nocturnal animals become active.

The Schloss Schwerin invites you on a fairytale tour of discovery: During special guided tours for children, young guests learn what life used to be like for princes and princesses and hear exciting stories about knights. A scavenger hunt leads on a search for Petermännchen and his secrets. The puppet show brings the history of the castle to life for the audience and makes the visit a special experience. 

In almost all Schlössern in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern offer similar programs in which puppet theaters and children's tours take young visitors on an exciting journey back in time.

In winter, the castle is transformed into a festive Christmas village with baking activities, carriage rides and atmospheric lighting.

In the Sea Museum and the OZEANEUM, children can immerse themselves in the fascinating underwater world and learn all about the North Sea and Baltic Sea, tropical fish and coral reefs in a fun way at interactive stations.

The Schabbell in Wismar, also known as the Stadtgeschichtliches Museum der Hansestadt Wismar, presents a journey back in time to the Hanseatic era with multimedia exhibitions and hands-on stations that bring history to life - from trade routes and historical games to medieval craft techniques.

Karls Erlebnis-Dörfer in Rövershagen, Zirkow and Koserow offer adventures regardless of the weather: from corn mazes and scary huts to Christmas markets and ice worlds.

The Phänomenta in Peenemünde inspires with over 200 interactive stations that invite children to experiment and discover physical phenomena.

In the largest aquarium "Open Atlantic", schools of mackerel, nurse sharks and smooth dogfish as well as various species of rays swim above the replica of an eleven-meter-long shipwreck.
