Cycling through Neustrelitz - a couple rides through an avenue

The Müritz and its tributaries are one big cycling paradise. If you cruise through the Mecklenburg Lake District on an e-bike, you can really get around here - and still have time for moments of pleasure.

Cake forks clatter softly on porcelain, the smell of freshly brewed tea fills the air, a boat chugs past on Lake Mirov and soft piano music wafts over from somewhere. Isn't it just lovely here in front of the Palais-Café on the castle island of Mirow? Thomas and Manuela look at each other smiling. Yes, they deserve this royal finish! After all, they have already cycled 76 kilometers today, completing a decent round trip through the Kleinseenplatte. And the Palais-Café is the perfect ending. The fact that the two of them were on e-bikes and therefore perhaps not always pedaling with pure muscle power made the tour wonderfully relaxed, say Thomas and Manuela. They didn't have to rush – and what they hadn't been able to pack into their bike tour!

Enjoy cycling from lake to lake

The best thing about e-biking through the lake district? You can take your time for all the beauty along the way

Neustrelitz, the former royal seat with its late baroque, star-shaped town complex, also has its lake - the Zierker See. There is a pretty harbor promenade by the water, where Manuela and Thomas make their first stop for a coffee. Afterwards, they take a look at the extensive castle gardens, which were laid out in the 18th century. They push their bikes past the statues of ancient deities and take a detour to a small temple dedicated to the Greek goddess Hebe. That's the nice thing about being out and about on an e-bike - even on longer tours, there's no rush and you can take your time to enjoy the many beautiful sights along the way.

Fish sandwiches with a view of the lake

E-bike breaks in the lake district - on the jetty, in front of the fisherman's hut or in the castle café

That's why the next break is only after another 23 kilometers. In a romantic little bay right next to the Ahrensberger Hausbrücke –, the only surviving Hausbrücke in northern Germany. Between Drewensee and Finowsee is a small snack bar called „Rast beim Fischer“. Here the two cyclists, who are now quite hungry, each get a fresh sandwich. Marmalade is a real specialty of the Mecklenburg lakes and tastes particularly good when smoked. The e-bikes can also get their strength back - while Thomas and Manuela tuck into their fish sandwiches at the tables in front of the snack bar and look out over the reeds, where hungry canoeists keep mooring, the bikes fill up on fresh electricity at the charging station.

This is how e-bike tours can end - with coffee and cake in front of Mirow Castle. Wasn't it a wonderful day?

Fuelled by the turbo mode of the e-bikes, they then head back to Mirow. Here they are sitting on the café terrace in front of the castle, happy and satisfied, eating fresh apple pie and already making plans again. After all, they have rented their e-bikes for two days. And the Mecklenburg Lake District is great.
