Happiness with the beach chairs

„I had three days to decide whether to give up my old job as a receptionist and take on the beach chair rental business.“ Heike Wehr sits in one of her blue and white beach chairs and pushes her feet through the light, still cool sand. „I didn't get a wink of sleep for three nights, I did the math and then I said to myself ‚just do it‘,“ she laughs and throws her head back with a smile. „Now I can't imagine a better job.“

She looks lovingly at her little kingdom on Boltenhagen beach access 12, which she has owned for nine years now. Every year from mid-May to mid-September, her 40 beach chairs are set up here on the long stretch of beach between the volleyball court and beach access 11. „The best thing about my job is the atmosphere,“ says Heike. „People come here to find peace and have a good time. And I am also a part of that.
