Incomparably Beautiful Baltic Sea Islands

Each a Class of its Own

Washed by sea-green waves, the islands and peninsulas along the coast of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern rise up out of the Baltic Sea. As different as the Baltic Sea islands may be, each of them has its own incomparable beauty, wide beaches and many hours of sunshine. Some of them are patches of earth only a few kilometers wide, uninhabited and protected except for a variety of nesting birds and perhaps a lighthouse that keeps lonely watch over the ships.

Dreamlike Island Vacation at the Baltic Sea

On the other hand, Germany's largest island Rügen and the sunny island Usedom are very popular and often visited destinations. Here, especially in the summer months, there is hustle and bustle in the sophisticated Seaside Resorts and on the long white sandy beaches.

On other islands, things are more tranquil. Like the car-free island of Hiddensee or the island of Poel just outside Wismar. The peninsula of Fischland-Darß-Zingst, which has always been popular with creative minds because of its unspoiled nature, is known far beyond the artistic circles and yet has retained its naturalness.
