The tour starts in the harbor village of Müritz. After a detour to one of the most beautiful and oldest manor houses in Mecklenburg on the western shore of the Müritz, the tour continues to the 3 Queens Palace in Mirow. The late baroque cavalier house on the castle island of Mirow today houses an interactive exhibition on the lives of the 3 Queens of Mecklenburg Strelitz as well as a wonderful café with a lakeside terrace. It is worth trying the Luisentorte, Friederikentorte or Charlottentorte on the lakeside terrace! As of May 2014, it will be possible to visit the historic rooms of the castle opposite, which will then be presented to the public again in their original state. After a walk through the baroque palace garden and across the Liebesinsel, the tour continues by boat through the Mecklenburgische Kleinseenplatte.
Surrounded by forests, moors and heathland, the tour leads to Brandenburg. After four locks, you reach the town of Rheinsberg, where you follow in the footsteps of 'Old Fritz', who once spent the happiest time of his life here as crown prince. Like no other castle, Rheinsberg captivates with its picturesque location on Lake Grienerick. Here, nature, architecture and art combine to form a harmonious ensemble. Numerous works of art adorn the rooms of the castle and invite you to take a journey back in time to the 18th century.
The next day we return to the port village of Müritz.
Water profile
Both experienced vacation captains and newcomers get their money's worth when they steer their boat across the lakes as well as river and canal sections to Rheinsberg in Brandenburg. In summer, there is a very lively boat traffic here. There may be waiting times at the four locks. Please be considerate of paddlers.
