Sietower Wandelweg (9 km / 1 day tour)

In the middle of the Mecklenburg Lake District, on a quiet bay of the great Müritz lies the picturesque harbor and fishing village of Sietow-Dorf. From here, the Wandelweg meanders for 9 km through the enchanting surroundings of the village. Walking is a movement between hiking and pilgrimage. Eleven Wandel stations along the way lead through the beauty of nature and show the way to mindful walking. Change your point of view for once, perceive the nature of the ground, listen to the rustle of leaves - this is how you can become aware of yourself and your own five senses again and perhaps even discover your sixth sense in the process.
Halfway along the trail, the Sietow country house invites visitors to "Zur Kräuterrast." Hikers can test their senses of smell and taste with a delicious Wandelweg herbal soup and other local herbal specialties. Easily accessible field, forest and meadow paths and a small stretch along a little-used asphalt road lead through the beautiful landscape. Depending on the season, eagles, cranes and storks as well as an abundance of meadow flowers are companions along the way.
The way back to Sietow-Dorf is marked by the tower of the old fieldstone church, which is well worth seeing. In the village, the natural bathing beach and the atmospheric fishing harbor mark the end of the Wandelweg. At the end of the route, however, a visit to the Jeikner studio workshop is worthwhile. The artist couple has not only designed the Wandelweg, but also a studio of a special kind. The paintings create a link to the experiences of nature and tell of paths and detours on the journey to oneself.
