Fishing license
The fishing license requirement applies in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern from the age of 14 and entitles you to fish with a hand-held fishing rod. The fishing license from another federal state is recognized if it is valid and you are not resident in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Fishing without a fishing license - the tourist fishing license
There is a special offer for holidaymakers who do not have a fishing license in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern - the tourist fishing license. With this it is possible to go fishing on one of the many waters in MV without a fishing license.The tourist fishing license is valid for a consecutive period of 28 days and can be extended several times at a later date. The license costs 23 euros when first issued. .Fishing permit for fishing waters
In addition to the fishing and tourist fishing license, you need a fishing permit to fish in a body of water, which allows you to exercise your fishing rights with a hand-held fishing rod. If you wish to fish in the inland waters of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, you will usually receive the fishing license from the owner or leaseholder of the water (e.g. fishing company, Landesanglerverband Mecklenburg-Vorpommern e. The state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is authorized to fish in the waters, which include the Bodden, Haffe, Peenestrom, Achterwasser and the Baltic Sea (12-lake-mile zone), unless third parties have fishing rights. Fishing tax for guest anglers
From 2025, guest anglers will have to pay a fishing tax of ten euros in addition to their fishing permit. This is then valid for 1 year. There is no change to the cost of the tourist fishing license, as this already includes the fishing tax.
