World music
The Dresden trio's vocals and instrumentation naturally draw on the rich pool of Western musical traditions over the centuries. German, southern and eastern European folklore flows in just as much as salon music, gypsy swing or Argentinian tango to form the heart-wrenching "Ziganimo sound". This evening is the first time it will be performed live in the Kornhaus.
Ziganimo plays and sings with joy and passion, whether in German, Italian, French, Spanish, Yiddish, Bulgarian, Persian or Romani, whether with violin, guitar, double bass or mandolin. Ekkehard Floß (vocals, violin, guitar, mandolin), Guido Richarts (vocals, double bass) and Daniel Nikolas Wirtz (guitar, mandolin) play.
Since the release of their second album "Under Der Linden", the musicians have increasingly turned to their own mother tongue - in the form of folk song arrangements and poetry set to music from all eras. Not only works by Goethe, Heine and Rilke, but also Middle German and even Old High German verses are given new guises by Ziganimo, woven with dedication from folk and world music. In addition, the band has always had Klezmer and Yiddish songs in its luggage, an integral part of European and especially German musical culture.
Admission is €15, €10 for schoolchildren, students and the severely disabled.
