A German life: Gertrud Habersaat goes to Poland with her husband and experiences the horrors of war and deportation. They adopt and save a Jewish girl and a Polish boy. Gertrud's husband remains missing at the front and she returns to Mecklenburg with the children, quickly manages the second largest farm in the village, resists collectivization and eventually takes over the chairmanship of the LPG. And when she wants to remarry, her husband, who she thought was dead, suddenly appears at the door. From West Germany.
"Wege übers Land" is a visually powerful epic, the film version with Ursula Karusseit is legendary. Acting director Maik Priebe adapts Helmut Sakowski's novel for the theater for the first time.
