"Wiener G'schichten" - Musical and anecdotal stories from Vienna

The Förderverein der Kirche zu Kirch Stück e.V. continues its series of events on Friday, October 18 at 7:30 p.m. with a concert entitled "Wiener G'schichten", musical and anecdotal tales from Vienna with Christiane Möckel, piano, and Andreas Lettowsky, bass-baritone.

Vienna has had an eventful history. Until the 20th century, the population suffered from unrest, sieges, plague and wars. How does the Viennese react to this? They sing! Humorous, satirical and more or less decent songs. The Viennese are not easily rattled. He bears his fate with a good dose of indifference, to which the enjoyment of wine contributes. The Austrian bass-baritone Andreas Lettowsky performs a few samples of the Viennese song, accompanied on the piano by Christiane Möckel. Wienerlieder can only be sung in the original language - the Viennese dialect. Lettowsky contributes numerous explanations to ensure that even those unfamiliar with Viennese understand the content of the songs. The entertaining evening is enriched with Viennese stories and wisdom.

Christiane Möckel was born in Mecklenburg and received her first piano lessons at the age of 6. She studied piano and accompaniment at the Franz Liszt Hochschule in Weimar and after graduating was engaged as a solo repetiteur at the National Theater there. She has lived and worked in Schwerin since 1985. She worked for many years at the Mecklenburg-Schwerin State Theater and worked as a piano teacher and accompanist at the Schwerin Conservatory until 2022. In addition, she has given and continues to give chamber music concerts and workshops in collaboration with vocal soloists and choirs at home and abroad.

Bass-baritone Andreas Lettowsky, originally from Salzburg, was already a soprano soloist with the Salzburg Cathedral Boys' Choir as a child. During his singing studies in Graz, he made guest appearances at the Graz Opera House. After completing his studies, he joined the ensemble of the Bavarian State Opera's opera studio in Munich. Subsequent engagements took him throughout the German-speaking world and finally to the Mecklenburgische Staatstheater Schwerin in 2004. He has been a freelance opera and concert singer since 2012. He has made guest appearances in Barcelona, Chemnitz, Bremen, Hagen and Zwickau, among others.

A warm invitation to all! Admission is free. At the end of the event, the Friends will be collecting donations for the purchase of a loudspeaker system for the nave of our church.

This event is sponsored by the Ehrenamtsstiftung M-V and the district of NWM.
