The unexplored beyond

The Protestant parish of St. Marien invites you to a service at the Old Cemetery on Eternity Sunday. We remember the deceased and at the same time listen to the joyful message of eternal life. While we may agree with the great painter Caspar David Friedrich that "the unfathomable hereafter [...] cannot be imagined, cannot be fathomed", the biblical images nevertheless reflect centuries-old ideas of what comes after death. A glimpse of this can still be comforting and help us to say goodbye.
