An exhibition at Neues Kunsthaus Ahrenshoop with Ludger Orlok, Ingar Krauss, RIMI/IMIR SceneKunst in Stavanger/Norway and guests in cooperation with the Royal Norwegian Embassy (8.12.2023 - 17.3.2024)
With the exhibition UNGEWISSHEITEN, the Neue Kunsthaus Ahrenshoop presents a multifaceted examination of the challenges of sustainable travel. Supported by the Royal Norwegian Embassy and in cooperation with the partner institution RIMI/IMIR SceneKunst in Stavanger/Norway, the exhibition sets new impulses for an environmentally conscious culture of travel and exhibition making in the sense of Green Culture.
As part of an environmental grant organized by Künstlerhaus Lukas, Ludger Orlok and Ingar Krauss were invited to travel from Germany to Norway - without a plane, without rushing back and forth. Instead, they embarked on slow, low-CO₂ routes and even on foot journeys that took them through unfamiliar landscapes and along less well-trodden paths. This conscious decision to travel slowly and sustainably enabled them to have special experiences of time, space and nature. It opened up "spaces of uncertainty" - unpredictable but intense moments full of discoveries and special intimacy.
UNGEWISSHEITEN documents the personal and artistic experiences of slow travel by Ingar Krauss and Ludger Orlok in photographs, video works and installations. The exhibition is enriched by Norwegian guest artists from RIMI/IMIR SceneKunst in Stavanger and photographic works by Iwona Knorr. Together, they invite visitors to the exhibition to engage with questions of responsible travel and leave the familiar rhythm of fast travel behind.
To accompany the exhibition, the Neue Kunsthaus Ahrenshoop is offering an educational and supporting program on sustainable travel and environmentally conscious art. The close cooperation with RIMI and the support of the Royal Norwegian Embassy reinforce the international dimension of this project and emphasize the importance of transnational connections and cultural exchange in the spirit of sustainability.
With UNGEWISSHEITEN, the Neues Kunsthaus Ahrenshoop is setting an example for a new culture of travel. Embark on an impressive journey of discovery that transcends the boundaries of the known and makes the vastness of the unknown an artistic experience.
