Literature from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern - The authors Birgitt Flögel and Sandra Pixberg will be reading on Tuesday, 26.11. 2024 at 5 pm in the atrium of Ludwigslust Town Hall, Schlossstraße 38.
This is not the first time Birgitt Flögel has read from her work at the Ludwigslust library. Born in Ludwigslust, she has been writing stories since her childhood and has published stories in anthologies, children's books and the novel "Mothers" since 1988. It was never easy for her, life presented its challenges. A trained pediatric nurse, she is the mother of five children, now grown up. After reunification, she qualified as a social education worker and pregnancy conflict counselor. But she hardly found time to write. It wasn't until 2017 that she was awarded a scholarship in the state's "mentoringKUNST" program. This enabled her to devote herself to writing again and again over a period of two years. Again and again, because her grown-up children and now her six grandchildren continue to dampen the creative urge of the Ludwigslust native. That doesn't make her sad: "I write family stories and I get the raw material for them delivered free of charge," says Birgitt Flögel.
Her colleague Sandra Pixberg, on the other hand, has never read in public in Ludwigslust. She lives with her family in Altefähr, at the far end of Rügen. For her, writing travel guides about the Baltic Sea islands - Usedom, Rügen and Fischland-Darß-Zingst, for example - was an obvious choice. But she has also written and published a crime novel and a historical novel, which is of course set on Rügen. Sandra Pixberg will read from these and from a current project.
