Music mixes with street noise, with the sound of flags flapping in the wind, with sea surf and moments of silence.
At the center of the film is Scottish percussionist Evelyn Glennie. Director Thomas Riedelsheimer (Rivers & Tides) accompanies her at her gigs and performances in Japan, Scotland, New York and above all in a huge factory hall in Dormagen, where music is created using a wide variety of materials, and his astonishing images give us an idea of what sounds can look like. We meet other musicians such as Fred Frith and Ze Ondekoza and get a comprehensive portrait of an extraordinary artist.
"Thomas Riedelsheimer provided the artistic highlight in Locarno with 'Touch The Sound'... Sounds are omnipresent in this film. Music mingles with street noise, with the sound of flags flapping in the wind, with ocean surf and moments of silence. The rhythm in which the furious soundtrack is mixed with captivating landscape shots and Glennie's carefully embedded statements allows the viewer to immerse themselves deeply in this world of sound and sink into it. You leave the cinema with sharpened senses." Artechock Magazine"
