The women of Group 47
What role did women play in Group 47?
Dr. Wiebke Lundius examines the contribution of female authors, publishers and wives to the establishment of Group 47 as the most important and innovative literary authority in the Federal Republic of Germany between 1947 and 1967. The successful positioning of the group is also due to Ilse Aichinger, Ingeborg Bachmann, Gisela Elsner, Gabriele Wohmann and Helga M. Novak, who helped shape post-war German literature from within Group 47.
The author studied German, history and Latin in Marburg and received her doctorate from the Department of German and Art Studies at the University of Marburg.
