World music - Jazz - Gipsy - Klezmer - Chanson
This is what characterizes the Erfurt ensemble The String Company. The musicians come from very different musical worlds and, thanks to their long-standing friendship, know how to express this "multi-stringedness" in interesting arrangements as well as their own compositions.
The String Company's concerts unfold a rich mosaic of sounds, rhythms and melodies from the gipsy, klezmer, folk and swing traditions. Their music creates a wonderful bridge between the different cultures.
The audience is enchanted by spirited gipsy songs, soul and jazz from America, Celtic folk from Ireland, poetic and smoldering chansons from Russia and Germany, klezmer and melancholy, romantic melodies from the Catalan and Jewish traditions.
