A Shakespeare fairy tale by Franz Fühmann | Elisabeth Richter-Kubbutat Language | Nancy Laufer Accordion
The poet Franz Fühmann (1922-1984) went through enough storms and changes in his own life. In 1968, the year the Prague Spring was crushed, he wrote four Shakespeare plays as fairy tales: " Pericles", "A Midsummer Night's Dream", "The Winter's Tale", and "The Tempest".
Shakespeare certainly also had many reasons to despair at the contradictions of his time. Nevertheless, he wrote a play with a hopeful ending - "THE STORM".
The kind-heartedness of a loyal friend saves the king from his brother's attack, and the wisdom of the wind spirit Ariel keeps him from merciless revenge, so that love wins out in the end. A touching prose version of Shakespeare's last drama, which is a pleasure to listen to in its dynamics and linguistic music as interpreted by actress Elisabeth Richter-Kubbutat and accordionist Nancy Laufer.
