Marianne Winckler, a recognized writer, begins a book about precarious work. She settles near Caen and, without revealing her identity, joins a team of cleaning ladies. She experiences the women's economic vulnerability and social invisibility, but also discovers the mutual help and solidarity that unites these workers in the shadows.
As in real life is a French social drama from 2022, directed by Emmanuel Carrère and co-written by him and Hélène Devynck. Juliette Binoche, Hélène Lambert and Louise Pociecka can be seen in the leading roles. The film is an adaptation of the 2010 story Le Quai de Ouistreham by Florence Aubenas, which was published in German under the title Putze: Mein Leben im Dreck. The film was presented at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival. Originally planned for 2021, the theatrical release in France was postponed to January 12, 2022. In German cinemas, the film celebrated its premiere on June 30, 2022.
