Music and dance meets Caspar David Friedrich
To mark the 250th birthday of Caspar David Friedrich, the young composers of the Acantun Collective have been inspired by the Romantic artist's art and created four new compositions. These contemporary works will be premiered in Dresden in November 2024. Entitled "The Sea of Fog - Music and Dance Meets Caspar David Friedrich", the project combines music, dance and light design. It is aimed at all generations and invites you to rediscover Friedrich's visual worlds. "The Sea of Fog" - a symbol of the unknown and mysterious - not only represents an artistic challenge, but also a reflection on the role of man in nature. What effect do Friedrich's images have today? What moves composers of the 21st century about his art? These and other questions will be explored as part of the project. The new pieces of music deal with Friedrich's work in different ways: from the musical realization of his perspectives to the emotional resonance of his depictions of nature and symbolic motifs such as fog and loneliness. Dance and music merge into an artistic unity. A project by Sinfonietta Dresden, the Acantun Kollektiv and Perform[d]ance. Conducted by Katharina Dickopf, choreography by Stefan Hahn, lighting by Johann Ju.
