"What gives the world its value are places where it reveals its uniqueness."
Oliver Schwarzmann
One of these special places within Stralsund's old town is St. John's Monastery.
Hidden behind thick brick walls is the rose garden, which is repeatedly described in contemporary depictions as one of the most beautiful and picturesque places in the city.
After this part of the monastery had also lain dormant for many years, the citizens' committee "Rettet die Altstadt" e.V. and landscape architect Silke van Ackeren began to breathe new life into this garden last year. This has brought an almost forgotten place back into people's consciousness.
Tour guide Dagmar Fromme will guide you through the monastery courtyards of St. John's Monastery and introduce you to the rose garden, which is still closed to the public, and its new planting.
