Pastor Christian Voss celebrates the Thanksgiving service with us up Platt. Come and join us. A coffee table afterwards rounds off the day.
... and start practicing:
Dat Globensbekenntnis up Platt: I verlaat mi up Gott, den' Vadder, so so Jesus em uns wiest hett. In 't Bibelbauk is written of him: Many people have allowed themselves to be saved by God and have placed their trust in him. Ok, I belong to his church, and I have learned from him that we humans and the whole world came from God's hand. In his life he wants us to live and to dedicate ourselves to life. I rely on the fact that Jesus spoke and spoke the truth of God's life and that he died in God's name at the cross. And God gave him justice and brought him back to life, and I believe that nothing, not even death, can tear us away from God's life; we can rely on Jesus Christ. Amen
and:
Our Father in heaven, holy and great, is your name with us; your reign shall be established; what you know shall come to passas in heaven, so in the earth; let us, day by day, get what we need for our lives; and do not tell us what we need.do not forgive us for what we have done wrong, just as we forgive what we have done wrong; do not let us come there, where we could be deceived by you; and make us free from everything and everyone who wants to stir up our lives. You know dat, you can dat, you are dat ok. Amen

At Thanksgiving, the retired pastor Christian Voß, who organizes the service in Low German in Gessin, sings it to those attending the service. He has adapted many of the texts himself or translated them into Mecklenburger Platt, which is just one of the many dialect forms. Church hymns, gospel readings, sermons, prayers - everything is the same as in the High German service, only everything is in Low German.
