Operetta by Carl Zeller In German language
The summer in Halle 207 is heralded in with unforgettable catchy tunes such as Schenkt man sich Rosen in Tirol, Ich bin die Christel von der Post or Wie mein Ahn'l zwanzig Jahr. Although the operetta premiered in Vienna, it is set in the Palatinate, where forest and game master Baron Weps has his hands full. He collects bribes from the farmers so that His Serene Highness the Elector will overlook the poaching on his lands during his upcoming visit. Above all, however, Weps has his own arrears and an even more heavily indebted nephew, Stanislaus. Surely the money could be put to good use? Too bad the elector cancels at short notice. And it gets even worse: his wife doesn't know about it and has gone to the village in disguise to confront her unfaithful husband! There are a lot of amorous entanglements to resolve, until in the end Adam, the bird dealer, gets his Christel; Weps gets lucky with a lady-in-waiting and the electress is also reconciled.
House director Rainer Holzapfel will direct the comedy with its lively melodies.
