When Jane is discharged from hospital after her nervous breakdown, her worried husband Greg takes her to an old farmhouse in the middle of nowhere to recover. Not the best choice, it seems, because even on arrival the emotionally fragile woman is plagued by an uneasy feeling. Then Greg's manipulative sister turns up, who quickly takes him and the house for herself. Further unsettled by the ghost stories that the amiable landlord George tells with glee during his visits, reality and fantasy begin to blur for Jane. She increasingly doubts her sanity as inexplicable, frightening events take their course that night.
