Comedy freely adapted from Molière by PeterLicht

SCHWERIN CASTLE FESTIVAL 2024

"I think we should seize the opportunity ... even if it's a different world to the one we know."

He's not even there at first, but he's still got everyone under control: Tüffi, the mischievous and busy Tartuffe of the 21st century. A life coach by profession. A deceptive seducer who has come to lead the Pernelle family first to the core of their untruth and then to ruin them from the ground up. That hurts and that's how it goes: The son of the house thinks the charismatic stranger is great and makes sure he stays. The father agrees and puts the daughter on top as a present. The mother doesn't trust the roast, but is happy to eat it. Collectively, everyone gets into a big round of speeches in which hypocrisy, double standards, consumerism, self-deception and self-optimization are first dismantled down to the last detail and then reassembled.

Peter Licht's rewriting of the classic Molière story is a fast-paced black comedy about pig people and human pigs, about sales strategies and false promises, about a system of deceivers and delusion, well protected by patriarchal power structures and the imperfection of human beings. With turbulent cascades of text full of ludicrous contradictions, author, musician and all-round artist PeterLicht dismantles us all - and demonstrates in the finest possible way just how revealing and funny biting bourgeois self-criticism can be. Unlike Molière, he does not take aim at a specific social group, but at our entire modern zeitgeist. Peter Kastenmüller, artistic director of Theater Neumarkt in Zurich until 2019, is staging this wicked joke with opulence, music and a strong ensemble of actors in the summery ambience of the beautiful castle courtyard, making his directorial debut in Schwerin after successful productions at Staatstheater Kassel, theaters in Hanover, Frankfurt and Düsseldorf, Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin, Staatstheater Stuttgart, Residenztheater Munich and Münchner Kammerspiele.
