Comedy by Neil Simon German by Helge Seidel
"If he doesn't apologize, I'll die in my chair in front of him out of sheer spite."
As a duo with his stage partner Al Lewis, Willie Clark was one of the most celebrated stars in comedy for decades. In the golden era of American vaudeville theater, the popular "Sonny Boys" became icons of entertainment culture. But their time together in successful shows and variety theaters is long gone, the aging comedy couple have been separated for eleven years and have been estranged for twelve. While one of them sits in the country with his daughter, the other sits in a run-down hotel room, increasingly senile and grumpy, and grumbles about the lack of offers. Then comes the surprise: television is planning a show in which the "Sonny Boys" are to appear together once again and present their most famous sketch. Could this be the big comeback? Even the rehearsals pose major challenges for the two of them and everyone around them ...
Neil Simon's tabloid comedy is a feast for actors and audience alike. Situation comedy, pointed dialog - and a touch of melancholy: the discarded "Sonny Boys" give the audience a humorous look behind the glittering facade of show business. At the center: two stars of yesteryear - lovable, eccentric and incredibly funny. Martin Nimz directs the comedy classic and Broadway hit, which also gained great popularity thanks to the legendary film adaptation starring Walter Matthau and Gabriel Burns, with its premiere on New Year's Eve in the Great House.
Followed by a premiere and New Year's Eve party with live music! Combined tickets can be purchased for the performance and party.
