by Wolfgang Kohlhaase with music by Günther Fischer in a version by the Mecklenburg State Theater
"Someone once said to me: 'You'll end up at the bottom. Or you'll become something really big'. I stupidly never forgot that."
Sunny is always on the road, touring the villages with her band as a pop singer. She rarely holds back with her opinions, she fights her way through life with a quick-witted and non-conformist attitude, hoping that her talent will be recognized and that people will finally listen to her. She seeks recognition, love and belonging. The DEFA cult film Solo Sunny is a touching plea for uncompromisingly standing up for one's own artistic dream.
Following the successful series of screenings at the Kulturhaus Crivitz in 2022, the team led by director Sebastian Kreyer is making a comeback for Sunny in 2024 - this time on the stages of the M*Halle and the Kulturmühle Parchim. "What do I want from my life? What is normal? What do I dream of? What is the price for being crazy enough to break through seemingly immovable boundaries? The real Sunny, the GDR singer and unemployed shoplifter Sanije Torka, who was arrested after reunification, the film Sunny and the character played by Julia Keiling as a touching, cheeky young woman of today can still tell us so much about ourselves. Asking questions about our courage and our dreams even in times of despondency." (Holger Kankel, Schweriner Volkszeitung)
