Vernissage of the special exhibition LIFE SIGNS Paintings, graphics and sculptures by Gabriele Schulz, Adelheid Sandhof and Gertraud Wendlandt
LEBENSZEICHEN - exhibitions of the Archive of Fine Arts (ABK) in the Mecklenburg Lake District are titled and dedicated to those artists who have their work preserved in our archive. Whether a pre- or posthumous estate, an artist's oeuvre IS a powerful sign of life and a contemporary historical document - the district of MSE preserves these and is thus one of the few districts in Germany that has dedicated itself to this task. In order to do more than just archive, the operating association ABK MSE e.V. organizes one or two exhibitions a year and participates in Kunst offen und Kultur Herbst des Landkreises MSE.
The first exhibition of 2025 shows a selection of works by the sculptor Gertraud Wendlandt (*1951 - †2023) and the painters Gabriele Schulz (*1949) and Adelheid Sandhof (*1950). From color-intensive and delicate pastel paintings, charcoal drawings and sketches to concrete sculptures that are as delicate as they are strong, it is possible to read what moved the women - landscapes, self-portraits, fellow human beings, still lifes in painting, postures in sculpture.
And, "out of sequence", artistic works by the painter and art teacher Elise Borkowski, who supported the archive as a volunteer for many years, are also on display. She died on January 20, 2025.
The exhibition will be open after the vernissage on April 5 and April 12, 2025 from 3 to 6 pm. The exhibition can also be visited by appointment.
