Fascinating snapshots of nature from the international photo competition will complement the permanent exhibition from 19.11.2024 to 23.03.2025.
It is a very special year for the Glanzlichter.
The nature images in the Glanzlichter photo competition have been shining for 25 years; the judges have been looking at 341,616 images submitted to the competition for a quarter of a century. This time span not only shows the progress in quality, but also the development in nature photography, in the technique and design of an image, its transformation and its presence in the public eye. For more than 10 years, the Müritzeum has been showing the winning pictures of the competition, which always tour Germany for a year.
This year, it was particularly noticeable among the submitted pictures that the design of a nature photo has also changed. The simple image of a motif is no longer enough for some photographers. Images are often created in the mind and then elaborated. The photos submitted are often the realization of a motif on location from several viewpoints or at different times of the day or year. But the classic motifs are not missing either: unusual lighting moods, insights, animal actions and thought-provoking situations in nature. A variety of almost 20,000 photographs, which did not make the judges' decisions easy.
The exhibition shows the 80 winning images from the ten categories.
A comprehensive accompanying book with the same title, which contains detailed information on all the award-winning images, accompanies the exhibition. The book is available in the Müritzeum store and allows visitors to take the award-winning photographs home with them in pocket format and immerse themselves once again in the intense and expressive motifs and, above all, in the stories behind the pictures.
Let yourself be drawn into the fascinating world of nature! The special exhibition will be on display at the Nature Experience Center in Waren (Müritz) until March 23 next year.
