Film synopsis
"Plastic Fantastic," the winner of the German Documentary Film Award 2024 (Audience Award) and directed by Isa Willinger, sheds light on the global plastic crisis and its far-reaching consequences. Microplastics are now ubiquitous: in rivers, oceans, soil, the air and even in our bodies. Despite this alarming situation, the plastics industry continues to produce unabated. The film accompanies activists, scientists and industry representatives who reveal the extent of this crisis worldwide and search for solutions.

Details of the event
The event will open with introductory remarks by Prof. Dr. Elizabeth Prommer, Rector of the University of Rostock, Fulbright Germany Board Member Susanne Bowen, State Secretary in the Ministry of Science, Culture, Federal and European Affairs, and the US Consul General for Northern Germany, Jason Chue. The screening will be followed by a discussion with director and Fulbright alumna Isa Willinger, who will provide insights into the making of the film and her experiences with the issue of plastic pollution.

The event is organized in cooperation between the German-American Fulbright Commission and the University of Rostock.
