It's Christmas - Timeless songs and melodies for Christmas
At the most beautiful time of the year, jazz singer SANDIE WOLLASCH - voted one of the best in the south-west by SWR - meets flautist ANDREA RITTER and pianist DANIEL KOSCHITZKI - both ECHO Klassik award winners and known from their international concert band SPARK.
They breathe new life into traditional Christmas carols such as "Leise rieselt der Schnee", "Es ist ein Ros entsprungen", "In dulci jubilo" or "God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen", "In the Bleak Midwinter", and "O Holy Night", as well as popular contemporary songs such as "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas", "This Christmas" and "River".
Wollasch, Ritter and Koschitzki trace the intimate atmosphere of the Christmas season and concentrate on the essentials in the intimate trio line-up: a powerful voice in dialog with a delicate flute, sensitively accompanied on the grand piano. The thoroughbred singer and the two classical stars demonstrate a great flair for exciting sound combinations, combining the familiar with the unheard and moving playfully and virtuosically between different eras and genres.
Baroque splendor, classical masterpieces, traditional Christmas carols and Christmas hits interweave to create their very own winter wonderland of sounds. While Sandie Wollasch pulls out all the stops with her expressive voice in the trio's subtle arrangements, Andrea Ritter and Daniel Koschitzki draw on a rich array of instruments, ranging from the 20 cm long soprano flute to the 2 meter high square bass, from copies of baroque instruments to newly developed folding flutes and a lotus flute.
