"On the scoop - get set - go!" The big dig at the start of the season
On the beaches from Boltenhagen to Graal-Müritz, the participating teams are equipped with buckets and shovels and can give free rein to their creativity. A jury in each town selects the most beautiful sand sculptures and attractive prizes await the winners.
Digging alarm in Warnemünde: How to take part in the sandcastle competition
At the sandcastle competition on Saturday, May 13, 2023, the beach at Landing 4 and 5 belongs entirely to the young and old damsels and lords of the castle. There are no limits to creativity. They can create whatever they like - be it sea bears, airplanes or fantasy sculptures. In Warnemünde, the competition is organized by the Rostock & Warnemünde Tourist Office in cooperation with Strandoase Treichel.
It starts at 1 p.m. with the distribution of buckets and shovels and the allocation of the five by five meter construction sites. The jury will be introduced at 1.45 p.m. and from 2 to 4 p.m. it's time to dig for all the shovels you're worth.
Digging with refreshments
If necessary, the teams can refresh themselves in the Treichel beach oasis. Attractive prizes await the best builders, including prizes from Rostock Zoo and Karls Erdbeerhof. The winners will be announced at 5 pm.
Whether alone, in pairs or as a team - everyone can take part in the big dig. Other aids (with the exception of excavators and wheel loaders) and decorations are expressly permitted and welcome. The building materials sand and water are of course available in sufficient quantities.
How to register
To secure one of the coveted places, you can register at the tourist information offices in Rostock and Warnemünde or by sending an e-mail to veranstaltungen-tzrw@rostock.de (with the subject "Sandcastle Competition Warnemünde").
