Evening tour of the "Hometown" exhibition
Caspar David Friedrich remained closely connected to Greifswald, the place of his birth, childhood and youth, throughout his life. Two of the most impressive testimonies to this are the paintings "Meadows near Greifswald" from the Hamburger Kunsthalle and "Greifswald Harbour" from the Alte Nationalgalerie Berlin. In 2024, both paintings will travel to the Baltic Sea and will be the focus of the special exhibition concluding the anniversary year, which will shed light on Friedrich's connection to his "home town". The presentation will be complemented by preparatory drawings, city views by his contemporaries, an exploration by artist Cindy Schmid of the local "meadows" and Caspar David Friedrich's childhood, as well as the question of the moors near Greifswald. Admission: € 5.00 plus museum entrance fee With Caspar David Friedrich through the year 2024 - we'll be there!
