Poetry slam including special guest Laura Folkers at the Kulturhafen
The poetry slam has been a phenomenon for almost 30 years now. Time and again, people of all ages and genders find themselves alone on a stage with their own texts in front of an unfamiliar audience. And there is always a curious and attentive audience that wants to hear these texts. Whether funny or serious, socio-political or anecdotal, rhymed or freely narrated, fantasy or autobiographical - we never know what will happen at a slam.
The next hurdle on the way to the German-language championships this year is the Rostock City Championships.
The winners of the slams at Ursprung, Waldemarhof, Café Waldenberger and others will compete against each other in two rounds. Props and music are not allowed. The audience alone decides who wins - there is no jury.
The wonderful singer-songwriter Laura Folkers will perform as a special feature. The winner of the Landesrockfestival MV 2023 fuses pop, jazz and folk elements. Her songs are sensitive and powerful at the same time. They vividly tell of "everything that wants to be expressed through music". Laura Folkers works with harmonies that create mystical, soulful or simply beautiful moods - an invitation to the soundtrack in her head. She is inspired by artists such as Becca Stevens, Norah Jones and Ben Folds.
