Flat, but by no means shallow. Gerd Spiekermann presents his thought-provoking and cheerful stories with great artistry.
Just like Reuter once did, he takes a critical look at society. The entertainer looks at the challenges of our time and knows how to describe the little pitfalls of everyday life in a vivid and, above all, humorous way. His stories are full of irony and self-irony, a mixture of wicked, biting, quiet and understanding.
Gerd Spiekermann grew up with the Low German language. He likes Hamburg, his adopted home, and enjoys telling stories of em un ehr. No wonder that working as a Low German editor at NDR 90.3 was Gerd Spiekermann's dream job.
Uta von Sohl (Uchte) wrote about him: "His linguistic liveliness, with which he lovingly brings the big and small mishaps in human interaction to the point in Low German, is a masterpiece of profound and critical observation, but also - and especially - of a cheerful disposition.
He has published 18 books and 7 CDs with his Low German stories to date, as well as the commemorative publication "100 Years of Ohnsorg Theater".
Gerd Spiekermann has been awarded five literary prizes for his Low German stories, including the Fritz Reuter Prize from the Carl Toepfer Foundation and the Fritz Reuter Literature Prize in 2023.
