"Two German gentlemen - between the brasserie and the Völkerschlachtdenkmal"
A train journey through Switzerland and Germany provided the material for the booklet "Zwei deutsche Herren - Zwischen Brasserie und Völkerschlachtdenkmal" by Silvio Witt and Joke Reichel. In 23 poems, they humorously address the behaviour of tourists, discuss communication issues, eating and drinking habits, even encounters with Charlie Chaplin and Freddie Mercury. They also promise to unravel the mystery of the title.
"Poems are the best way to record experiences and feelings precisely and in a variety of languages," say the two Neubrandenburg residents. For Silvio Witt, a native of Neustrelitz, who is primarily in the public eye as mayor of the four-gate city and has announced his resignation for May after numerous conflicts in the city council, it is a matter of time.r announced his resignation in May, the new book is already the third volume of poetry after "Zwei Herzen an der Leine" and "Kostümverleih". "Poems are my favorite form of expression," says the 46-year-old, who also performed as a cabaret artist before taking up political office.
Joke Reichel, on the other hand, is making his literary debut with "Zwei deutsche Herren". Since graduating from sports high school in Neubrandenburg, the Malchin native has not only been active as a footballer, but also in various artistic professions. "Poetry has long been my passion," says the 26-year-old. In addition to the joint poetry book, he is also working on a play with Silvio Witt.
