The Mediterranean lightness of being has undoubtedly always characterized the instrumental art of Quadro Nuevo: Italian tangos, French valse, Aegean myth melodies, daring songs of journeys along a sunlit coastal road, oriental grooves, Brazilian flavours and Neapolitan street songs. They all serve as a pleasurable barque for joyfully improvised adventure rides.
Quadro Nuevo got the ideas and inspiration for this on extensive travels. Musical jewels picked up in the squares and on the shores of the south.
The spirited thoroughbred musicians have been touring the countries of the world since 1996 and have given around 3500 concerts to date. They have performed their songs from Upper Bavaria to Bari, across the Balkans through the Middle East to Cairo, from Buenos Aires to Hong Kong. The venues are as diverse as the roots of their music: the ensemble not only performs at festivals and in renowned concert halls such as New York's Carnegie Hall. The playful virtuosos also travel through the Mediterranean south as street musicians and invite people to dance as a nightly tango band.
Quadro Nuevo has twice received the ECHO award for "Best Live Act of the Year", the German Jazz Award and a gold record.
