A cooperation between the Jewish Community and the Rostock Museum of Cultural History. Based on the story by Friedrich Wolf, duration approx. 50 mins, ages 4+.
Friedrich Wolf was born in Neuwied (Rhine) in 1888 and came from a middle-class Jewish family. In 1946, he wrote the story that you can see today as a puppet show.
Luitpold Löwenhaupt, a chamber singer from Dresden, buys a live goose for the upcoming Christmas, which is to be turned into a nice, fat Christmas roast. But his three children intervene and quickly become fond of the animal. They call the goose "Auguste" (Gustje) and have it moved from the cellar to the children's room. Occasionally the goose is plucked, but regains consciousness. She is then given a warm sweater. In the end, only the father wants his roast goose. But after some back and forth, "Gustje" is rescued by the rest of the family and remains the family's favorite from then on.
