The Nossentiner/Schwinzer Heath Nature Park is offering a practical workshop on pruning fruit trees on Saturday, 24.2.2024. It will take place on the orchard meadow on Hellberg near Goldberg.
On the orchard meadow on Hellberg near Goldberg, there are fruit trees of different ages and in different states of care. Various pruning and care options are demonstrated using these trees. The different types of fruit (apple, pear, cherry, plum) will also be discussed.
The aim of the pruning course is to impart knowledge about a near-natural crown structure that ensures good stability of the tree, good fruit quality, few diseases and less pruning work in the future. Speakers are nature park ranger and long-time fruit tree nurseryman Edgar Bartel and Evelin Kartheuser (both members of the Pomologists' Association).
After some theoretical explanations on various trees, participants will also be able to lend a hand themselves. You should bring your own tools for this (shears, saw, ladder, gloves). Please also remember to bring warm clothing. There will also be a fire bowl and a hot drink to warm you up.
Participation costs €10, the number of participants is limited. If you are interested, please register by February 20 at the following email address: info-nsh@lung.mv-regierung.de.
