The travelogues of the "Wanderer in the Giant Mountains" in Caspar David Friedrich's anniversary year
POLENMARKT 2024 "The fascination of the Giant Mountains: A literary search for traces through two centuries"
The travelogues of the "Wanderer in the Giant Mountains" in the Caspar David Friedrich anniversary year!
The Jizera Mountains and the Krkonoše Mountains, formerly known together as the Giant Mountains, inspired not only Caspar David Friedrich. They have been unleashing creative energies for centuries. Some testimonies to this fascination, captured in text and images, have been collected in two volumes of the anthology of travelogues "Wanderer in the Giant Mountains". The editor Agnieszka Bormann, cultural advisor for Silesia at the Silesian Museum in Görlitz, will present the publication. She will then talk to cultural scientist Mateusz Hartwich about the significance and transformation of a European natural and cultural landscape.
Admission is free. Donations are requested.
The event is a cooperation between the Koeppenhaus, the cultural advisor for Silesia at the Silesian Museum in Görlitz and the German Cultural Forum for Eastern Europe. It takes place as part of the polenmARkT festival of Polish culture and is a contribution to the Caspar David Friedrich anniversary.
