The piano duo Tabea & and Daniel Streicher play works by W. A. Mozart, Fanny Mendelson, R. Schumann, M. Ravel
Tabea Streicher (*2004) and Daniel Streicher (*2002) began their musical life together back in 2009.
By making music as a duo, the blind understanding of two siblings was transferred to music.
At the ages of five and seven respectively, they took part in the 2010 International Steinway Piano Competition in Berlin and won third prize, followed by further prizes such as first prize at the International Bechstein Piano Competition with the special prize for the best interpretation of the compulsory elective piece and first prize with the highest score at regional, state and national level at Jugend musiziert, through which they were accepted into the scholarship program of the German Foundation for Musical Life. The duo has already performed together at festivals such as the Marl Debut or the Berlin Piano Duo Festival, repeatedly at the Crescendo Festival in Berlin and at the Berlin Philharmonie.
The siblings are also interested in music of the 20th and 21st centuries, as premieres of works by Clemens K. Thomas and Marcus Caratelli show. As recently as May 2023, they performed Max Reger's "Eine romantische Suite" (arr. Schön- berg) with other musicians from the Berlin music academies as part of the Crescendo Festival at the Berlin University of the Arts.
Daniel and Tabea have been scholarship holders of the "Yehudi Live Music Now" association since 2023. This gives them the opportunity to share music with people who rarely, rarely or never come into contact with music. They are sponsored by the "International Music Academy for the Promotion of the Musically Gifted" and are now scholarship holders of the German National Academic Foundation. The duo gained valuable musical inspiration from Björn Lehmann, Klaus Hellwig, Gil Garburg and Volker and Hans-Peter Stenzl.
