Concert by the Kiel University Chamber Choir Saturday, 26.10.2024 19:30 h St. Anna Church Schwerin
Peace at the end
Under this title, the Kiel University Chamber Choir, under the direction of University Music Director Daniel Kirchmann, presents a stylistically diverse program of a capella choral works on the subject of war and peace.
The central element is the Lamentations of Jeremiah, which can be heard in a composition by Thomas Tallis, but are also taken up in the motet "Warum" by Johannes Brahms and the motet "Wie liegt die Stadt so wüst" by Rudolf Mauersberger. An immediate reaction to war and violence can be heard in the pieces "There will come soft Rains" by Ēriks Ešenvalds and "Da Pacem" by Arvo Pärt. The plea for peace can be heard in the two Agnes Dei settings by Mårten Jansson and Knut Nystedt.
