From the middle of the 19th century, Deviner Park, which had developed from a pine grove, became a popular excursion destination for the people of Stralsund. Particularly in the 1920s, it became an important place of social entertainment for the townspeople. The construction of a landing stage in the 1860s and the introduction of a regular steamboat connection to Stralsund and the Grahl ferry revitalized the summer excursion traffic until the Second World War.
The construction of a restaurant building in 1887 marked the beginning of the Kurhaus's rich history, which has continued to this day, alternating between boom and bust. It is located at the highest point of a naturally formed, highly undulating terrain, which forms the charming setting for the landscaped Deviner Anlagen park. From here, there are picturesque views of Devin Bay and Stralsund.
With the reopening of the Kurhaus in 2002, the temporary revival of shipping traffic and the partial restoration of the park, an attractive excursion destination has been regained.
