I wonder what it was like when a highly respected, no longer quite young bishop set off for the Pomeranians high up by the sea in the 12th century? Otto's mission to bring Christianity to Pomerania was not only for religious reasons: The new religion was also intended to bring peace and political connections to the troubled region. Otto von Bamberg was in the north in 1124 and 1128, first in eastern and then in western Pomerania. It was thanks to his diplomatic skills that Pomerania entered a new phase of urban and regional history, characterized by reconstruction and peace, with the acceptance of the Christian faith in many places. It is thanks to his reputation that much was recorded in his time and shortly afterwards, which now forms the basis for a historical musical by the "Pommersche Engelspierken", written by Stephanie Schwenkenbecher (text) and Nicole Chibici-Revneanu (music).
