Organ recitals and concerts in the Schifferkirche Ahrenshoop
The Wegscheider organ in the Schifferkirche will be played
The Ahrenshoop Organ Festival is taking place in the Schifferkirche for the twelfth time this year. This musical gem, created by organ builder Kristian Wegscheider, who grew up in Ahrenshoop, and his Dresden organ workshop, is a unique instrument. It impresses with its colorful stops and a particularly warm, resonant sound. Numerous renowned organists have already played on this organ - their verdict is unanimous: it is an exceptionally successful instrument on which the most diverse styles of organ literature can be brought to life.As every year, musical devotions will take place at lunchtime on the first three days (May 1 to 3), during which the renowned church music director Anne-Dore Baumgarten will play the organ. The music will be accompanied by meditative and contemplative texts by former Magdeburg cathedral preacher Giselher Quast. Dr. Stefan Nusser from Dessau will perform works by Georg Philipp Telemann, Georges Bizet and Giacomo Puccini in the festive opening concert on the evening of 1 May. On May 2, Julius Mauersberger, a church musician from Pasewalk, will perform. His program includes works by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Johann Sebastian Bach and Gottlieb Muffat. Svenja Andersohn from Berlin will conclude the concert series on the evening of May 3 with pieces by Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, Christian Erbach and Johann Sebastian Bach as well as other composers. A festive church service will be held on Sunday, May 4, to conclude the Organ Days. The Fischländer Kantorei choir under the direction of Anne-Dore Baumgarten will also perform. Organizers are the parish of Prerow and the Förderverein Schifferkirche Ahrenshoop e.V. The Ahrenshoop Organ Days are a small but fine festival - a tourist attraction that delights a wide audience with its artistic quality and special charisma.
