Five Elements
Alexej Gerassimez dedicates his debut as Artistic Director of the Rügen Festival Spring to the elements of nature: water, wood, stone, fur and metal. The pre-spring awakening of the island offers wonderful inspiration to reflect on the cycle of becoming and passing away and to interpret it musically. Together with three other percussionists and his brother Nicolai on the piano, Gerassimez embarks on a sonic exploration tour.
Gerassimez has added his own composition to the work "Canto Ostinato" by Dutch composer Simeon ten Holt, who died in 2012, for this project. His "Suite of Elements" combines five chapters - one for each material. And allows us to literally hear its respective character.
