Double concert with Kusk & Óviti (Dream Pop) and 9 grader nord (Tamil Pop)
The indie pop duo Kusk and Óviti from Reykjavík mix bedroom pop with dance music and have established themselves in the Icelandic music scene since 2021. In 2022, they managed to land in the top lists of Icelandic radio station Rás 2 with the song Elsku vinur. Their upcoming album, which includes 8 tracks, is inspired by genres such as synthwave, UK garage and dance music. During their live performances, they create a cozy atmosphere where the audience never knows whether the next song will be soulful or danceable.
In 2024, the Tamil pop band 9 grader nord from Bergen won the Spellemannprisen, the Norwegian Grammy, in the Open Class. The band combines musical styles such as South Indian classical music, baila (dance music from Sri Lanka) and Tamil folk and combines them with modern elements. The sisters Mira and Dipha Thiruchelvam as well as Jakob Sisselson Hamre and Jakob Sønnesyn are known for their energetic live performances, in which they use instruments such as the bamboo flute and cajon. Their second album Yalpanam reflects on cultural conflicts and the search for recognition.
