"Green natural paradise - Costa Rica" Speaker: Mathias Hippke - Parchim
A small country, only about the size of the federal state of Lower Saxony, fascinates with its great wealth of natural treasures, which it has preserved to this day thanks to clever, precautionary policies. Situated as a link between North and South America and between two oceans, Costa Rica is home to a volcanic chain that rises to over three thousand four hundred meters and is home to a variety of climatic and vegetation zones. In this year-round warm and humid climate, an unimaginable number of around 500,000 animal and plant species have been able to develop and survive to this day, including 12,000 plant species, 1,239 butterfly species, 838 bird species, 440 reptiles and amphibians and fascinating insects. The speaker was able to gain a small but very lasting impression during a three-week vacation trip in February-March 2024, where he traveled several thousand kilometers in a rental car to various areas between the Pacific and the Caribbean as well as the central mountainous region and hiked various national parks.
All interested parties are cordially invited to the Natureum at Ludwigslust Castle on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at 7:00 pm. The contribution towards expenses is €3 for NGM members and €4 for guests. The number of participants is limited to 50.
